Coach Gorni is considered to be one of the finest youth and scholastic coaches in the nation. The honors and awards he has received speak for themselves. His ability to sustain such success at the youth and scholastic levels is unprecedented. During his over 35-year coaching career, he has taken multiple teams from three different clubs to USYS National Championships. Over seventy of his players have played for the US National Teams at the Under 17, 20 & 23 age groups. In addition, over fifty of his former players have been drafted and/or played professionally in the MLS and in Europe. Few coaches at any level have had as much success in placing players in all the higher levels of play.
This past season, in his first year with HEX PA Dominion, he led two teams to the USYS National Championships. The 2004 U19 Boys reached the McGuire Cup National Championship Final Game (Runner-up) and the 2005 U18 Boys reached the National Semi-Finals. Both teams won their respective USYS National League PRO Divisions. In the last ten years, Michael’s teams have qualified for the USYS Nationals nine times. In addition, he is the Co-Head Coach of the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals Men’s NPSL Team (2022-2023).
Presently, he is the Head Coach for this year’s HEX PAD 2005/2006 USYS U19 Boys. They finished as the top team in their division in the December 2023 National League Event in Florida. He is also the Coach for this year’s HEX PAD 2005/2006 ECNL Team, who just finished with a record of 2 wins – 1 tie – 0 losses in the ECNL Showcase in Greer, SC.
